The Wood White, Leptidea sinapis

There is a main brood, flying mid May and June, with a second brood flying in August.

The larval food plants are various common Vetches and Trefoils.

Our nearest habitats are in Northamptonshire, Salcey Forest being the best known.

They fly quite slowly and when they are hovering just off the ground there is a chance that the wings will be open in a photograph.
