The Large White is a fairly common butterfly in Yeldham, but not usually more than the odd one or two being seen at a time.

There are normally two broods per year, sometimes three. The larvae feed on cabbage family plants and can be a major pest on cultivated cabbages. Large Whites over-winter as pupae.
