2004 Annual Show Report

Another successful Annual Show was held on September 11th at St. Andrew's School. We seem to have fewer growers of fruit and vegetables with only about half of last year's entries. There was better news in the other sections with twice as many Floral Art entries, a small increase in Photography and quite a large increase in the Childrens classes. Overall we had 266 entries from 50 competitors. Round the walls we had a display of artwork from the School Children, class by class. This was of a high standard, imaginative and entertaining.

We all enjoy the prize giving for the children. As they collect their prizes and medals they pose briefly for their photographs. As last we hope to have prints them available for the lucky winners or their parents just before the meeting in the reading room on October 8th.

The top award of the show is the Banksian Medal provided by the Royal Horticultural Society. This is given for the highest number of points for flowers, pot plants, fruit and vegetables and was won by F. Daborn.
